Posted on June 1st, 2008 in Carnegie Challenge Cup, Leeds Rhinos, Wigan by

Super League leaders Leeds came through some fierce Wigan pressure to take their place in the last four of the Challenge Cup. A Pat Richards penalty for Wigan opened proceedings but the Rhinos took the lead in the fifth minute of the game through a Matt Diskin try converted by Kevin Sinfield, Rob Burrow added another again with Sinfield converting. Wigan hit back through Mark Calderwood before the break giving us the half time score of 12-10 and a tightly poised contest.

The second half continued to be a test of strength but Brent Webb extended the Leeds lead.
Thomas Leuluai gave Wigan some hope but Scott Donald’s late try and a Kevin Sinfield drop goal sealed the win and a place in the last 4 for Leeds.
