Australia showed how hard it will be to take their crown away as they simply blew New Zealand away in their opening match. We saw a fine opening ceremony and then the Roos got straight into gear, power tackling in defence and both hard running and slick hands in attack saw them into a 14-6 lead at haf-time but it could have been more.

Second half and they upped the pace and power stretching to a final score of:

Australia 30 New Zealand 6
